The Man Who Taught Mike

This is Jeffrey Daniel, a dancer and singer from the group Shalamar who helped Mike Jackson become the dancing machine we all grew to admire. Check it out:
We first worked with him in 1980, but he did not do the moonwalk publicly until 1983 [on Motown's 25th anniversary TV special]. And after he did it, he asked, "How was it?" And I said, "Why did you wait so long?" He said, "Well, it still didn't come out right." I'm like, Huh? This is the performance that totally blew everyone away — and he said something didn't come out right. Whatever was going on in his mind, we would never know it. We all know that it was a mind-blowing performance, and it just took him to another level.
Re-live that groundbreaking Motown 25 performance -- and take a look at Bill Bailey, THE original Moonwalker -- after the stretch.

Warhol's MJ Portrait Heads to the Auction Block

The iconic portrait, created in 1984 to celebrate the massive popularity of Jackson's Thriller album ... is expected to fetch much more than its starting price of $800,000 U.S.
800 stacks?!? For that?!? Obviously, I'm no art expert, 'cause this shit looks like somebody scribble-scrabbled on an MJ photo. Gimme a magazine and some colored pencils and I could do the same damn thing.
For the record, though, Warhol paintings always go for tens of millions of dollars. His Orange Marilyn went for $17.3 mil in 2006, his Lemon Marilyn went for $28 mil, and his Elizabeth Taylor portrait went for $23.7 mil. He painted a car crash once and it sold for an orgasm-inducing $71.7 mil!!
Art collection is big business, even when it doesn't make sense.

This nigga JoeJack is a trip. He uses his first minutes in front of a camera after his son's death to promote his bullshit-ass record label, now he's got a big ol' party planned -- for himself.
If Joe Jackson’s spate of recent interviews feels like a publicity tour, that might be because it is one. Michael Jackson’s father is ramping up for his big 80th birthday bash scheduled for Aug. 22 in the Chicago suburb of Tinley Park.
He’s throwing the party with his record label partner Marshall Thompson, who wrote on his MySpace page that the singer's father is well-known for his “popular birthday celebrations each year.” - MSNBC
SMH. My rants after the stretch.

"Popular birthday celebrations"?? Who in the fuck gives a fuck about Joe Jackson's birthday? And the fact that Mike's birthday is exactly one week following JoeJack's planned soiree makes it even more inappropriate, if you ask me. I'd be willing to bet that the JoeJack shindig doesn't include one single dedication to his dead son. And if it does, it'll probably be very fuckin' weak.
It seems to me like the only relatives (out of the most famous ones, anyway) genuinely affected by Mike's passing are Katherine and Janet.
I've been trying to stay out of this Mike Jackson shit, but this one just seemed too weird.
If you're interested, you can catch JoeJack's interview with Larry King - where he denies ever hitting Michael but admits to not expecting to be in the will - at EUR Web.
